Headwaters Design Group
Headwaters Design Group is a landscape architecture and prairie restoration business. The name honors the headwaters of the Mississippi River that give life to so much of the downstream landscape. It is also where the founders first met during grad school and started a journey that wound its way to starting a family and a thriving business.
Scope
- Logo
- Business Cards
- Letterhead
Logo
The HDG logo represents layers of rock and the upwelling of water that is such an important feature of the midwest landscape. The letters are formed by a repetition of two simple forms. The assembly and color pays homage to hydrology through the layering of sedimentary rock that filters and feeds water to the Mississippi River.
Logo Development
The layering of hydrology, soil and organics quickly surfaced as the concept that felt right. Exploration then revolved around an expression that suited the founders.
Envisioning Applications
Commissioning a logo is a demonstration of optimism in the future of the business. It is helpful to give clients a sense of how things might look when things have grown the way they hope.
Success Story
Under Tory and Carrie Ann’s guidance, the business grew rapidly and, as the service offering expanded as well, was renamed Landbridge Ecological which is still going strong 16 years later.
