Center for Changing Landscapes

The circles of life.

The Center for Changing Landscapes leverages the talent and resources of the University of Minnesota to provide research, conservation evaluation, and design to natural resource agencies, nonprofit organizations, and communities in Minnesota and beyond. CCL needed a more polished identity with which to brand their deliverables and support their fundraising efforts.

Logo System

The final “Biospheres” logo is composed of three nested and interacting rings representing the vital interplay of air/water, vegetation and earth. The composition conveys a dynamic, orbiting assembly that represents the whole as a healthy ecosystem. To provide maximum flexibility, we created several versions. Vertical and horizontal versions, and single color versions in black and reverse are available with and without the University of Minnesota lock-up to support the many document types produced and the need to emphasize or downplay the UofM association.

Logo Exploration

Early sketches explored gestural forms that would evoke the grace of the natural world, as well as, interlocking and radiant compositions that speak to the way everything in a natural systems fits together and provide a unique contribution to the overall beauty of Earth.
